Sometimes the parents decided that young people need to get married. His own parents wanted him to get married at the age of 20. Many girls got married at the age of 17 or 18, boys got married at the age of 20-21. Many young couples lived with parents and it was a difficult situation.\nAt some point, the church introduced the usage of pews. Earlier the churches did not have them. The ladies used to wear the head covering in the church not depending on the fact whether they were married or not.\nMusic instruments and taking pictures in the church. Elaborating on the social changes his parents came through.\nJuly 7th was a very important celebration for the community. The changes in religious traditions were also big. As he was getting married he and his wife decided that they wanted the service in English, their marriage was the first one in the English language in this church. Remembers that the Ukrainian funeral which was mainly in the English language as well.\nReflecting on the funeral traditions from earlier he elaborates on the fact that he never could understand that people in the Ukrainian community were always only sad during the funerals and were talking about what they are missing, but never speak on the accomplishments of the person.
