The latter is also known by the Breton name of Saint-Ibohan, the Saint who takes away pain. Originally, each dome housed a niche decorated with the statue of the saint. On each side of it, sculptures represent the rural society who came to pay homage to him such as a lord on horseback and his page, a plowman in 16th century costume with his oxen, and an old man on his knees with his pig.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cp\u003eOn the first Sunday in August (which is the Day of Forgiveness), the men of Plumeliau who had left their beards uncultivated for several weeks came to shave them at the fountain; its water was then supposed to protect them from skin diseases. Those who offered calves, cows and oxen arrived on the eve of forgiveness. The cattle brought here were part of the procession which went from the chapel to the fountain. The custom was to perform this ritual in gratitude for a wish granted or an illness cured. After the celebration, these animals were sold at auction because it was believed that an animal thus dedicated to the saint would be a good luck charm in the stable.
