Lamoureux’s father’s name was Emmaüs Lamoureux and his mother's name was Marie-Joseph Genty. In 1906, they arrived in Beaumont, where they lived for five years. They moved to Normandeau in 1911 with their families and M. Joseph Durocher.  M. Lamoureux recalls that the voyage was difficult due to the lack of bridges. The route was nothing but rivers and to traverse them, M. Lamoureux says that they had to swim across along with their animals. It took twenty-seven days to get to Normandeau. M. Lamoureux explains that the reason why the journey was so lengthy was due to the terrible weather. He says that during rainy days, they would take cover in a tent that he carried on a hay rack. They stayed for three days in the same mud hole. Lamoureux recalls that his father had left one year earlier to build a shack. When his family arrived, there was a building to stay in on both his father and his uncle’s side of the river. M. Lamoureux explains that there was little else on the land and the days after were difficult. There were many flies, mosquitoes and horseflies around the animals. He says that in order to be able to work, they had to smoke both the animals and themselves in addition to wearing straw hats with nets.  M. Lamoureux explained that they got food from Vegreville. Every year, they went to Vegreville in cars to buy food for the year because there was nothing in Lac La Biche.   He remembered that his family dealt with a man named Alec Hamilton who bought furs and introduced them to tea, sugar and salt. He says that because Hamilton spoke English, they had a difficult time understanding him. M. Lamoureux recalls that another man arrived after him who also bought furs. However, M. Lamoureux forgot the second man’s name.  M Lamoureux said that there were no schools, only the Lac La Biche Mission. He recalls that he attended for several years but never liked it. He explains that he never learned anything.  Because he did not like school, he and one of his brothers were kept at home working. M Lamoureux says that he worked with cows, milking them and bringing them back home. M. and Mrs Lamoureux remember celebrating the end of the war with their families. Ms. Lamoureux says that M. Lamoureux danced and sang with her and all the uncles and aunties that they encountered. She says that her Uncles August and Aimé played Violin and Harmonica.
