At a certain point, her parents moved to a little farm outside of Chipman, Alberta, and they still have that farm there. Mary came to Edmonton when she was 17 and worked as a nurse in a hospital. She also lived in Vancouver. \nShe went to public health school in Chipman and high school where she specialized in German (because Ukraine was not recognized at that time).\nShe went to Vancouver and had worked there for three years as a nurse. She talks about her job for a while, shifts, number of employees, etc. \nShe lived with her uncle when she took high school in Edmonton. Mary came from a very famous family in Ukraine. She talks about her famous relatives. \nMary's grandfather was Mykolai Kobylianskyi (?), and her grandmother's name was Hafia (?). They arrived in Canada and had a farm. They were there for years. Hilliard, where Mary used to live, was not too far away from her grandparents' farm. The names of Mary's parents were John and Julia Berezuik. When asked about childhood, she said she liked singing. She joined some of the festivals and got first prize in singing. She also liked playing the piano, but her family could not afford lessons. She speaks about her unlucky experience with piano classes in winter. She remembers Ukrainian Christmas carols.\nMary had three sisters and one brother.
