Frequented by Celts, it was no doubt a pagan site. To put an end to pagan practices, the first monks who evangelized Brittany blessed it and dedicated it to the protector of the inhabitants: Saint Bertin. It was in the 17th century, under the rectorship of Jean Charpentier (1649 – 1667) that the current monument was erected. Since 1927, the niche has housed the stone statue of Saint Bertin, a replica of the ancient wooden statue.
