Now however both the fountain and lavoir are known as ‘La fontaine et le lavoir du Quilien’ and are under the patronage of Saint Anne. The cross which was once wooden, was placed by Marie Francoise Leclerre de Lezillac in the 16th century. A cement cross carved by the local stone mason replaced it in 1938. More recently, a granite cross which represents Saint Anne was placed in 2021, becoming the new guardian of the site. \u003cbr\u003eSince 2018, the local heritage association “Ô Fils du temps” has worked to restore the site. In 2018 only the tip cross was visible amongst all the greenery and the lavoir was completely lost. The cross was uncovered and taken to the village to be restored. After the discovery and restoration of the cross (whose statue was missing),the fountain was restored and found to be 4.20 metres deep. Two years later the association returned to unearth and restore the lavoir, which after extensive searching and testing, was found buried under 1.2 m of field stones. It took the collaboration of three local associations and building company, who provided diggers and trailers to complete the work. In Spring 2021 “Ô Fils du temps” continued its projects and plans to develop the surroundings of the site with the return of the cross, the planting of shrubs, the installation of a picnic table, the installation of one or two benches and 2 insect hotels.
