Between 733 and 749, he became bishop of Dol-de-Bretagne. He is not one of the seven Breton Founder Saints, however he is one of the ten national Breton Saints whose cult is widespread throughout Brittany. He is the patron saint of the church and the eponymous village, the first mention of which dates back to the Trévial registers of 1669. The parish of Saint-Thuriau was a truce of Noyal, today Noyal-Pontivy. The town developed in the shape of a star around the Trévial chapel and only became a commune in 1811. The water flows via a small open-air pipe towards the washhouse which was added to this fountain.
