Above the water, a niche with a semicircular arch was adorned for more than two centuries with a polychrome wooden statuette representing Saint Columban, but unfortunately in the 1990s, it was stolen. The waters of this fountain are reputed to cure mental illnesses, they also allow children to take their first steps. The toddler had to sit on the edge of the circular hole included in the paving and fed by a small canal, so that he could remain for a few moments with his feet in the water. Access to the source is made on each side using a few steps blocked by a stile. Irish pilgrims, following in the footsteps of Saint Columban, sometimes stop at Brélidy.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe existence of the village of Brelidy is possibly linked to the feudal mound, the seat of a castle demolished in the 14th century, and the chapel of the Sacred Heart. Research carried out on the parish registers of Brélidy and Mantallot revealed that there existed in the territory of Mantallot a chapel called: chapel of Ber-thu, which had held the relics of Saint Justine, Saint Véréconde, Saint Crescent, Saint Désirée and Saint-Colomban since the 1500s. According to the writings, they were brought from Rome by pilgrims returning from the Crusades. Some of these relics as well as a bust of Saint Columban were given to several rectors on February 17, 1746, the one in Brélidy received those of Saint-Colomban. This Saint, born in 543, comes from the Irish monarchy. Having become a monk, he landed on beach l’anse du Guesclin near Saint Malo, and evangelized Brittany around 580 with a dozen other monks. After his stay in Brittany, he founded the monastery of Luxeuil in Haute-Saône in 590. When his evangelical conception was called into question, Saint Columbanus violently opposed religious and political leaders, particularly King Thierry of Burgundy and his grandmother, Queen Brunehaut.
