She grew up in Chipman up until grade 9. Her parents were farmers and father did not like farming. He sold his property and they moved out to Genesee, AB. They bought a store and had this store for fifteen years. After they sold the store they bought a hotel in Warburg, AB and they were there for about 10 or 15 years [internment camps]. Rose's brother travelled to Ukraine and found the father's family and then the mother's not far away from there. \nProskurniak's father was born in Canada in 1902 and the mother was born in 1908. Now she sees that dates are incorrect. She checks with documents and corrected herself that grandpa came to Canada in 1899 and arrived in Halifax on May 9, 1899, by a ship called \"SS Brazylia\". She remembers \"Boh predvichnyi\".\nFor Easter mom would boil the eggs and prepare a basket, put some eggs in there and some kovbasa, and Proskurniak does not remember what else. They would dress up and go to Chipman for Mass on a Sunday.
