Because of this incident the family lost many belongings.\nParents told about their decision to immigrate to Canada: they read in the local newspaper, \"Lvivs'ke,\" that Canada had lots of cheap lands and advertising to go there. When they came, there were disappointed to have a piece of forest to turn in into a farm, but they had already no money to come back. Their first house was a burdei to the south from Winnipeg, close to the border with the US.\nTheir first income was from $5 per month. Difficulties in communication with neighbours caused creating macaronic language. \nPauline tells a story about an English neighbour visiting and having meal with them but forbid his son to eat that meal.\nParents acquired English later, from their family members.
