The public school in Krydor was on a hill so during wintertime they would go down on sleighs all the time. They had a big sleigh that nine of them could sit on it. In summer they would play ball. Polish children at school could speak Ukrainian. Except for Ukrainian and Polish children they had a Chinese boy for a little while. They also had a Jew but later they went to Winnipeg. They never had any problems with these children, their parents were friends. Jews spoke Ukrainian as they came from Ukraine. Olga did not want to be a nurse because \"you would have to carry wet pants\". Her friend did go to a nursing school and Olga said: \"I will just get married and have children.\" Olga actually wanted to continue school but her mother would not let her because she said: \"You have had enough\". Olga continues: \"And there were some girl school teachers. And they had to go teaching in the country. And there were teachers, and one of the girls was killed by a fellow she did not want to go around with him. So my mother said: look what happened to that one. You are not going to school anymore. You do not need it.\" Olga finished grade 10. By that time a new high school was built and she went there to a grade 9 and 10. Olga tells the story of how her former teacher would meet her in church and asked why she is not going to school anymore. And he would talk to Olga's mother but she would not let her go to school anyway. Olga: \"I cried for half a year.\"\nShe liked algebra and arithmetic at school. They had a very good teacher. His name was Bill Sarjook.
