He was discharged and came back to the farm in Glaslyn. John was born in 1943 and Iris was born in 1946. While he was gone, she stayed on the farm with her mom. After they went to Glaslyn and he had a store. She worked at the  J.S. Dart Company grocery store from July 1956 - August 1959. They moved to North Battleford in 1959. She worked at a dry goods store for 25 years. She had a brother in Battleford that had a store. Christmas was celebrated with a didukh, that was carried out after (called Second Christmas), There was always straw. They would play games after supper. She doesn't remember Christmas service. Second day of Christmas there was visitors. She doesn't remember carollers at that time, but later they did with a sleigh and horses. Celebrated in January. Only had school concerts in December. For Easter they had babka and paska and her mother made Easter eggs. Dipped them or covered them in crepe paper. Some were written on. Only mother did that. There was a service and they would take food to be blessed. There was kovbasa, pork roast, cottage cheese.
