The SSHRC-funded SpokenWeb partnership aims to develop coordinated and collaborative approaches to literary historical study, digital development, and critical and pedagogical engagement with diverse collections of literary sound recordings from across Canada and beyond. This collection contains two primary University of Alberta sub-collections, with additional playlists for sub-categories within each:

• 1. Department of English Events: literary readings, lectures, panels, and interviews organized by members of the Department of English, University of Alberta, featuring local and visiting authors. Original recordings on reel to reel and cassette, Edmonton and area, 1969-1988
  • Poet and Critic Conference, 1969: The Poet & Critic Conference took place at the University of Alberta from November 20th to 22nd, 1969. It was jointly organized by the University’s Departments of English and Romance Languages
• 2. Department of Radio & Television Broadcast Recordings: Reel to Reel recordings, each approximately 30 minutes in length, created for broadcast on CKUA Radio Station, 1983-84. Produced by the Department of Radio and Television and Department of English, University of Alberta
