Le projet Héritage Franco-albertain a commencé en 1979 en association avec Les Blés d'Or, un groupe de dance folklorique de St. Paul, Alberta. En mars 1981, le St. Paul French Culture Centre, où le projet était centré, a été détruit par un feu, et la majorité de la recherche était détruite aussi. Une publication, Voix Albertaines: Supplément Français à Voices of Alberta: A Survey of Oral History Completed in Alberta up to 1980, identifie les histoires orales collectionnées et rendu disponible par les efforts du projet.

Much of their work was recorded on videocassette. In March 1981, the St. Paul French Culture Centre, where the project was centred, was destroyed by fire, and much of the research was also destroyed. A publication, Voix Albertaines: Supplément Français à Voices of Alberta: A Survey of Oral History Completed in Alberta up to 1980, identifies the oral histories collected and made available through the efforts of the project.
